Cookie Policy
Last updated: 11 October 2026
This website uses no cookies for tracking, analytics, or advertising. This page lists every cookie and piece of browser storage it can use, as the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and the EU ePrivacy Directive require.
1. On the public pages
No cookies are set. No analytics or advertising scripts run.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Set when |
|---|---|---|---|
x-embed-consent | Local storage, this site only | Remembers that you agreed to load posts from X, so you are not asked on every page. | Only after you click "Load the post from X". Strictly necessary to honour your choice. |
2. Content from X (third party)
Some Journal posts can show a post from X (formerly Twitter). The X script is not loaded until you click "Load the post from X". When you do, your browser connects to platform.twitter.com, X receives your IP address, and X may set its own cookies. X's use of that data is covered by the X Privacy Policy. The embed is requested with the "do not track" option.
To withdraw your choice, clear this site's data in your browser settings. The question will then appear again.
3. On the admin pages
The /admin area is for the site owner only. When the owner signs in, Firebase Authentication keeps the sign-in session in the browser (IndexedDB and local storage). This is strictly necessary for sign-in and is never set for visitors.
4. Managing cookies
You can block or delete cookies and site data at any time in your browser settings. Because the public pages set no cookies, blocking them does not change how this site works for you.
How personal data is handled is described in the Privacy Policy.
